For a better comprehension of the benefits in terms of color contrast, one can examine the relative coefficients of transmittance of the colors Blue, Green, Yellow and Red. These coefficients were defined by the European Standard to provide an indication of the degree of attenuation of road sign colors as compared to the background by the effect of the filter used. Factors smaller than 1 indicate an attenuation of that specific color. Greater values than 1 indicate enhancement of the specific color and, consequently, better visibility.
